COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
I have a personal interest in moving towards more communal ways of living and I am interested in discussing development possibilities with people in Austria. In addition, I have 10 years experience helping local groups turn a wide variety of ideas into reality to the benefit of local communities. In addition to projects referred to elsewhere on this site, this work has included:
Play and Recycling Centre
Developing a 9,500ft2 warehouse in Derby to provide:
- a scrap-store of usable waste & ‘reject’ material from companies – fabrics, paper, plastics…etc. – as play materials for local play-groups, schools…etc.
- play training
- possible art studio space and a roof garden
My involvement: Co-ordinating early stage development from concept through to property acquisition (free-hold) inc. capital fund-raising.
Organic produce for city communities to provide fresh organic produce to people living in Derby
My involvement: Facilitating the setting-up of management group, and supply and distribution network for weekly delivery of organic produce to inner city areas.
This led to later development ideas of -
‘affordable organic produce’, aiming to:
- Increase the supply of locally produced organic produce into Derby
- Provide affordable organic produce for people on low incomes
My involvement: co-ordinating the early stage discussions involving local Statutory Authorities, Farmers, Agricultural College and people on low incomes
